While you are in the Abbey, may we gently remind you
of the following:
* All mobile phones are to be turned off or on silent
mode
* When you hear the 1st soft striking of the Zen bell
it means you can now begin the activity our Zen master
has indicated ¨C a meditation session for example.
* When you hear the 2nd striking of the Zen bell it
means that the activity has ended.
* In ending your meditation session you should open
your eyes slowly and slowly change your posture from
the Zen position.
* When you hear the 1st striking of the Zen wooden
sticks it means you are to immediately freeze in still
motion in whatever you are doing.
* When you hear the 2nd striking of the Zen sticks
it means you can resume what you were doing.
* Zen is about developing a sense of serenity and calmness
around you. So a quiet environment is essential for
you and your fellow pupils. Please respect that in all
that you do.
* If during meditation you must stretch your legs in
order to eliminate a muscle cramp, you are free to do
so¡quietly, so as not to disturb those around you. In
time you will learn how to transcend this.
* We encourage you to ask questions of our Zen teacher.
That way we will learn together what we need to know.
* Suggestions are always welcome. We want to make this
Zen experience as enjoyable and helpful as possible
for you.
