Itinerary
Day 1: Fly into Xiangfan
Fly to Xiangfan, Hubei in the evening and stay the night in a 4 star hotel in Xiangfan city.
There is only one evening flight every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday between Beijing and Xiangfan. So it is difficult to do a weekend trip from Beijing or Shanghai.
Otherwise, you have to first fly to Wuhan and then drive 4-5 hours to Mountain Wudang Shan and then it will be 3 full day trip.

Day 2: Xiangfan / Wudang
We depart Xiangfan to Wudang Township ( 2.5 hours drive along the express highway) to Wudang Mountain Scenic area, transfer to the shuttle bus designated by the Wudang Scenic Area Administration) up to the mountain. Then we check into the hotel in the half way of the peak and have lunch.
We take the shuttle bus to the Nanyan Gong (Southern Cliff Palace), which is the most dramatic of the existing temples, built into the side of a sheer cliff, recalling Northern Heng Shan's Hanging Monasteries in Datong, Shanxi -- another Daoist temple that seems to defy gravity. Then we visit Wudang Shan's Zixiao Gong (Purple Mist Palace), located on Zhanqi Peak (below the cliff Taizi Yan). Best preserved from the Ming dynasty building boom, this large, still very active monastery with striking red halls was built in 1413. It is also the location of Taoist Association. We will learn Wudang's health, breathing and wellness experiences and practise taichi. Wudang is the birth place for taich, which was created by Taoist master Zhang Sanfeng from Wudang. We may also possible to sneak into the living quarters of the monastery and meet the Taoist monks and nuns at their dinner time. Stay the night in the hotel.
Day 3: Wudang / Fly Out
This morning we take cable car to the summit to visit Jin Dian (Golden Hall), which sits on Tianzhu Feng, highest of Wudang's 72 peaks (1,612m high). The hall is part of the 15th-century Taihe Gong (Palace of Supreme Harmony) complex. Its two-tiered roof, covered in gilded bronze, is, naturally, best viewed on a clear day when it sparkles.
After lunch, we leave the Wudang Scenic Area and visit a martial art school before driving back to Xiangfan, and have dinner before flying out.
