Wuyi Mountains & River and Rock Tea
 
 
The Wuyi Mountains are a mountain range located at the northern border of Fujian province with Jiangxi province, China. The mountains cover an area of 60 km². In 1999, Mount Wuyi entered UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites, both natural and cultural. The Wuyi Mountains are the largest and most representative example of Chinese subtropical forests and South Chinese rainforests' biodiversity.

The landscape is characterized by winding river valleys flanked by columnar or dome-shaped cliffs as well as cave systems. Its tree-covered granite mountains and caves of various shapes, its bustling waterfalls and tranquil mountain streams, and its abundance of plant, flower, animal, bird, and fish species caught the attention of a Chinese emperor in the eighth century

A visitor to Mount Wuyi today can flow down the 9,500-meter-long Nine-Bend Stream on a bamboo raft, for a spiritual or therapeutic experience.

Wuyi Yan Cha (Wuyi Rock Tea) has a distinctive taste of sunburned mountain rocks, Numerous types of tea are produced around Mount Wuyi, it is the origin of the real Da Hong Pao tea (most expensive tea in China) and Lapsang souchong, further described in Wuyi tea. Wu Yi Tea is the most powerful natural weight loss solution available to the public today. Best time to visit

Wuyi has 200 misty days per year. The best time to visit is from June to September when most of days are sunny,and the Nine-Bend Stream has adequate water. The mountains is a good summer retreat and is at its lushest scenery in the summer although it is hot (July is the hottest, avoid going out between 12:00-15:00. The rest of the day is much cooler). Sometimes the summer and early autumn bring rainstorm and typhoon.
