General
information on CCC lectures
* Language: Presentations are done in English, or in Chinese with
English interpretation.
* Audience: All participants are foreigners. They are mainly expatriates
living in Beijing with a small number of visitors. Most of them are
from Europe, North America and Australia, but all continents are represented.
They are diplomats, businessmen, teachers, journalists, other professionals,
and their spouses. They tend to have a fairly good understanding of
China, its culture and many of them speak some mandarin. Their ages
range from 35-60.
* Duration: Presentations usually last between 90 minutes and two
hours, including a 20-minute Q & A session. Some series of lectures,
such as the 5-session Chinese history course, are held over a few
weeks, with each session lasting 2 hours.
* Setting: A room with traditional Chinese d¨¦cor and casual atmosphere.
Tea is provided to participants.
* Facilities: A laptop computer, a projector and screen, a DVD player,
and other AV equipment are available.
* Admission and Speaker Remuneration: These presentations are a part
of the CCC¡¯s non-profit program. Each participant pays a RMB30-50
admission, which helps to cover equipment and staffing costs, interpreting
service (if required), and a small amount that we pay speakers to
cover their expenses.
