This lecture will retrace the history of Beijing from 3,000 years ago to present day. It covers the existance and evolutions of the city and city layout and architecture; the Ming & Qing Dynasties' walls & inner 9 gates and outer 7 gates; architectures along the central lines of the town; the 9 altars and 18 gardens and parks. The talk will also elaborate the destruction history of the walled city and its layout and buildings.

Mr. Han Pu is a researcher for old Beijing history, and has been working at the Captial Library on archives of old Beijing for 25 years, and published several books on Beijing history and culture.

The talk will be in Chinese with English interpretation.
