Grass weave has been a long tradition of folk craftsmanship. It is basically divided into northen and southern styles in terms of the material and techniques.

People in Hebei, Henan and Shandong use wheat grass; while folk artists in Shanghai & Guangtong choose withered yellow grass. Zhejiangers and Taiwanese have their own types of grass.

The grass weave crafts include daily used products such as baskets, fruit boxes, mats and slippers; and handicrafts like little insects and animals and plants.

Come and learn with CCC's artist to weave palm leaves into butterfly. If we have time, then make a cricket, which takes longer time.

Venue: China Culture Center, Chaoyang District, Beijing, China.
