Sitting meditation is a way to learn to stay with “the moment of now”. To sit in the moment of now is to experience the reality of the moment of now. It is the common way to cultivate calm abiding and insight.
Just “Now” means: the mind neither recalls or regrets the past, nor imagines or expects the future. The mind is alive for Now, the mind of the past has passed, and the mind of the future has not been born. The mind of this moment is flowing from the last moment, and flowing to the next moment. The Now is the past, is the future.
Just “Now” means: to stay with the target as priority, anything else can be ignored. When the target is the breathing through nostrils, it is our whole life in the moment. It is the only way to make a real living! When the target is the moving abdomen, it is the whole world in the moment. It is all the way of its manifestation!
Just “Now” means: if the pain arises, be aware of the pain, pain is just pain. When an itch emerges, be aware of the itch, itch is just itch. If the scattering comes, be aware of scattering, it is evoking to go back to the target. When sinking in the sleepiness, be aware of sinking, it is awakening to recover the clearness.
Just “Now” means: the peace and ease are not going be grasped, the enlightenment is not going to be caught, and we will not become another “self”.
