When somebody greets us with “how are you?”, we always answer right away “fine, thank you.” It seems “fine, thank you.” should always be after “how are you?”, they are like one sentence, which can not be separated. Here lies the secret of wholesome life – to live as a whole.
“How are you?” here means “how are you at the moment of now” and “how is it going in every moment”. “Fine, thank you.” here means “I’m fine at the moment of now”, “everything is going on its way” and “thanks for your reminder ”.
One point is: we should not separate ourselves from the moment of now. The other point is: everything should not be separated from every moment of now. When you regret to have done something, you separate yourself from the moment of now. When you are unhappy to do something, you separate yourself from the moment of now. When you attach to what you are doing, you separate yourself from the moment of now. When you loose the moment of now, you are not ready for next moment. You put yourself into a tangle of stress of depression.
We should accept everything no matter what is happening at this moment, at the same time we are ready for the next moment. The acceptance includes: taking the effect of the past honestly, making a decision at this instant sincerely, and welcoming the next twinkling joyfully.
To live as a whole is the way to have a wholesome world.
