When we are going to have a cup of green tea, the water must be hot enough (around 80 degree), but if we use the boiling water (100 degree), the nutrition of tea leaves will be damaged, and the taste of tea will not be fresh. The “just enough” means the “most suitable”, in other words, the “middle way”. So the “middle way” is not really always in the middle of something, but the “most proper way” to do anything.
When we are concentrating on something or thinking, there must be enough attention, so that we can observe and think more clearly. But too much attention will cause tension, which will restrain the observation and thinking. Your body becomes rigid and out of breath, the mind gets stuck. It is quite easy to get tired and stressed
All kinds of phenomena and activities appear in an interactive relation among conditions. How well you utilize them depends on how well you observe and understand them! Condition has no “good or bad” by itself. The “good or bad” relies on your own expectation in your position. And your position is not still. There’s no fixed condition, every one of them is transforming together with others interdependently in every moment. When there are enough conditions to get one thing done, just keep moderate concentration to let it happen. After something has been done, don’t cling to the “done” form, which has been in changing already!
We always just believe our eyes, but we should know there are too many conditions running “behind” or out of our eyesight, so that we can avoid grumbling with others or upsetting ourselves too much, and have more patience to people and things. Each condition has its own characteristic, and the state of mind always give more attachment than what it really is.
Every one wants to be happy, but seldom ask whether the conditions are happy or not : )
