    Calligraphy course for non mandarin-speaking students

    Conducted in English, the class is designed for western learners, covering everything, from meaning and evolution of the characters, culture to history and music of the period. You don't have to be able to write Chinese already, just have to be enthusiastic and be willing to hold a brush. We are offering high-quality cultural content with professionally trained teachers and English narration that can be tailored to your level of knowledge about the subject.

    Content of four session calligraphy course

    * Learn the knowledge of Four Treasures (brush, ink, paper, and ink stone)
    * Grasp the writing techniques through one-on-one instruction.
    * Get to know the symbolic meaning of Chinese characters.
    * Try major styles of script from oracle, bronze ware, bamboo slab to cursive style
    * Learn to create art work in soothing way.
    * Cultivate right concentration with relaxed mind and body.
    * Understand the inner relation between writing and Qi/breathing.

    6-12 people per class

    Timetable
    The Chinese calligraphy (shu fa) beginner's course run year-round, each course is composed of four lessons and completed within four weeks. Then another cycle of the course begins right after that. Please feel free to join us anytime. Intermediate and advanced level courses are also available.

    Venue: China Culture Center, Beijing, China.

    Reservations:
    In order to properly accommodate everyone who wishes to attend this course we need to know each week exactly how many will be attending. If you haven't paid the whole two-month course, we ask that you notify us at least 3 hours before that you plan to attend each week's session. Register online is preferred, or give us a ring, if internet reservation is not convenient. No walk-ins.

    Price: RMB 120 for a single class; RMB 400 for 4 consecutive classes; RMB 640 for a card good for 8 classes.
    A one time transfer of a card is permitted, subject to notice to CCC, if you buy a bulk of 4 or 8 classes, but no substitutions of cardholder or of class term is permitted.
