Join our monthly book chat and this time we will discuss the book: "Managing the Dragon, Building a Billion-Dollar Business in China" by Jack Perkowski.
Jack Perkowski was a working-class kid from western Pennsylvania who got a football scholarship to Yale and went on to a successful career as an investment banker for Paine Webber. After twenty years on Wall Street, he asked himself whether he had the guts to do something completely different. He chucked his New York City lifestyle and bet the farm on China at a time when it was seen as an emerging economy, not the powerhouse it is today. He is now chairman and CEO of ASIMCO Technologies, among China’s largest automobile components makers, with twelve thousand employees in seventeen plants in eight provinces.
About CCC Chinese Book Club
The CCC Book Club is one of the earliest book clubs targeting expariates living in Beijing and the only book meeting groups focusing on China-related books for the international community.
At the CCC's Book Club, participants are assigned a great book to read (or selected chapters) and then asked to discuss its meanings with other book club members, using their own interpretations. All assigned books (mostly China-related fiction and non-fiction, a mix of classics and modern ones in English or with English translation) are available at CCC library and bookshop or at major foreign-language book stores where participants are encouraged to purchase their own copies.
You are also welcome even though you may not have read a single page of the book yet. Just join our discussion!
