Talk: Father Christmas and the Dragon

  • Regular Class Dates
  • Private Class/Event Price

Unlike in Europe, in China the dragon was considered a beneficial beast until the Buddhists introduced the concept of the evil dragon. Fundamental belief, however, has always held that the dragon has noble and unconquerable spiritual qualities. What, though, does the Chinese dragon have in common with Father Christmas?

Chinese historian and author of Chinese Dragon (pub. Oxford University Press), Roy Bates will explain why.

Venue: China Culture Center, Chaoyang District, Beijing, China.
