Shandong Travel Guide

The coastal province Shandong in the east of China is mainly famous for its cultural sights like the birthplace of Confucius and the former German colonial city Qingdao. But it is also blessed with beautiful nature and spectacular mountains. Even though its history, the arrival of the Germans and shortly after the Boxer Rebellion, and natural calamities, floods, famine and drought, didn’t make anything easier, the province has many beauty sights and attractions.

Travelers can still visit Qufu, Confucius’ home town and now a world heritage site, which shows the Confucius Temple, Confucius Mansion and Confucius Cemetery.

Qingdao is one of China’s most charismatic cities, with its old European architecture, churches, beautiful sand beaches and China’s world famous Qingdao-brewery (Tsingtao).

Impressive mountains like the Tai Shan Mountain, the most sacred Taoist mountain, and the Mount Lao Shan make Shandong also attractive for hiking ethusiasts.
